About Jake

Jake Carter is a music and sound enthusiast. Born in Colorado Springs, CO, Jake graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.  He spends much of his time on composition and sound design for a variety of filmography, television and video games projects while teaching private piano lessons on the side.

Taking an interest in piano at a young age, Jake independently taught himself how to play until making the decision to pursue music at a collegiate level. Since then, he has attended 2 universities in pursuit of a deeper connection and understanding of music.

Jake’s favorite music to perform includes a variety of video game pieces, such as “Dearly Beloved” from Kingdom Hearts, “Lumiere” from Expedition 33, and “Eyes on Me” from the Final Fantasy series. Jake performed at the first ever UCCS Piano Fest in January 2026 and proudly presented several video game songs at the event.

Currently, Jake teaches piano lessons at the Dupre Academy of Music in Peyton, Colorado and through Equinox Music Lessons, offering private lessons in the comfort of your own home. To Jake, the best part about teaching is hearing the progress in his students and waiting for them to realize for themselves just how far they have come.
